SATs and SPAG Revision

The Key Stage 2 National Curriculum tests are designed to test children’s knowledge and understanding of specific elements of the Key Stage 2 programmes of study. They provide a snapshot of a child’s attainment at the end of the key stage.

English and mathematics tests are taken at the end of Year 6, usually when children are 11-years-old. Level 6 tests are now part of the suite of Key Stage 2 National Curriculum tests. These are are optional and are aimed at high attaining children.

At the end of Key Stage 2, teachers assess children’s attainment in English, mathematics and science. These teacher assessment judgements are reported to the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) as well as to parents. This year children will sit a Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar test. More information will follow about this test as and when we receive it.

This week in willow class in history we have been learning about crime and punishment:

This shows the crimes and punishments that have been done throughout the ages.

Literacy:

We have learning doing a piece of work on someone we admire or our favourite celebrity.

We used mind maps and the mighty y to help us write!

Writer of the week

This week's writer of the week is Emma with her persuasive letter to the Aztec Emporer Montezuma to not sacrifice her.

Art and DT:

This week in art we have been designing moon buggies of working out how to do the electric circui and what type of body it will have. For decoration we can use things from home like cherry bake well tins for satellites.

Science 

In science we have been learning about the solar system. We made planet top trumps.

At the end of the day we made origami 5 point star.

Star of the week

This weeks star of the week is Samuel B.M! :-)

PE

This week in PE we have been doing fotball and gymnastics. In football we have been practising our passing skills. In gymnastics we got out the volt and all the stalls!

ICT 

In ICT we have been learning how to program scratch. We made a game with scratch — a cat maze game. 

RE

This week we have been making the parchment for an illuminated script.
