The Oakwood school swimming team came 2nd in the school swimming gala. Congratulations! :)
Star Of The Week
The star of the week this week is James L. Well done James!
Celebrations
Juliet got a shiny trophy when she swam for the county and Elouise got a part in a musical called The Wiiz.
We Will Rock You
Well done to everybody who has got a part in this year's summer production of We Will Rock You. The teachers were SO impressed with the auditions that it made choosing the parts extreemly difficult.
Some of us are dissapointed, but happpy for our friends who have got main roles.

An interview with........ TIAN
Did you like journalism day? If so why? Yes, because I learnt how I should write a newspaper article.
What was your favourite part of the week? Learning how to do enlargments in maths.

Writer of the week!
This weeks writer of the week is...... Mohsin for his homework about global warming; he was awarded writer of the week because the writing was very powerful and full with excellent detail!
A day of tests
On Wednesday we had maths test A&B and mental maths test to get our levels, we all did very well and got some phenomanol scores, hence Mr. Edwardes was very proud. We also had a reading test on Wednesday but some of us found it a bit tricky though of us managered to get a higher level then the last test we did.
Maths
In maths, Pythagoras group we ave been using numicon to help solve problems;in Mr giggs maths group we were translating shapes, it was hard, but relaxing.
Journalism Day
Journalism day was a day in which we got split into groups and presented some news to the class. On that same day Martine Croxall, a BBC presenter, came to speak to us to answer some questions we came up with; she also gave us some handy tips about how to present well.
Easter Assembly
On Tuesday we saw lower key stage 2's assembly, Easter praise. It was phenomenal and very interesting to watch! It was about Jesus' crusifiction and his ressurection. They sang and acted very well and everyone enjoyed it very much! We hope that the end of year 6 production will live up to the high standers which lower ks2 showed!

Literacy
In literacy we have been learning about persuasion and different
techniques of persuasion such as: emotive language and rhetorical questions. In
this lesson we persuaded people to come to Mexico .
PSHE
In P.S.H.E we have been learning about drugs. We have
learned about what legal drugs are and what illegal drugs are.
Production
The production this year is we will rock you, a musical
using the songs of the band queen. Remember, audition slips need to be in as
soon as possible!
PE
In PE we are learning about cricket and have played some
games in groups.

In history we learnt about how the Aztec society was
organised
There were four different classes. At the top was the
emperor, underneath him was the nobles, priests and warriors, bellow them were
the commoners (the normal people) and at the bottom were slaves.

What is your favourite subject and why?
“History, because it is really interesting finding out about what happened before you were alive.”
What would you like to do more of in school and why?
“I think we should do more PE in school because getting fit while having fun is very good.”

“Maths, because we normally do not do interesting lessons.”

“Music, because I love looking into the different styles that music has within it.”
Mad science assembly
On Monday we had a great, fun filled assembly run by Static Shell from the company “mad science”. This assembly involved two experiments one about inflating balloons and another about mixing different chemicals with water to produce different results.
All of us really enjoyed this assembly and hope that the mad science company come again soon.

On the 6th march Mr. Edwards held a singing assembly. Alisa thought the singing assembly was fantastic because she got to sing loudly.

A very busy week as normal in school. It was lovely meeting up with all the parents throughout the week, and sharing your good work. We also had our sharing assembly and world book day, where we shared our favourite books and dressed up!

Football Match Report
On Tuesday 27th Oakwood played St Albans and St Stephens in a league match. St Albans St Stephens having the better chances scoring first. Also in the first half, they were given a penalty but did not score. In the second half, Oakwood had the better chances and scoring making it 1-1. Both teams had chances to win but it stayed 1-1.

How does evaporation work - the energy gives the molecules more energy. We did an experiment to see if water evaporates differently with heat.
