X FACTOR

This week we went to see the French x factor at Beaumont it was really fun and we understood most of the language. We all enjoyed it very much and thought it was very good learning and we got to sing heads shoulders knees and toes with everyone we all loved it!

CALENDARS

Today in art we finished off our calendars they all looked lovely.
We hope our families and friends feel the same way!!
They all looked different with different colours and shapes.
The best thing about them was they were done on our OWN and We all did a great job.

Poem of the week - "Water" brought in by Louis

The water leaps and rushes over the rocks.
Flying through the air
It glimmers-
Each drop a diamond in an always-moving tapestry.
The curtain moves and changes,
Yet remains the same.
Always present, always changing,
Water against the rock,
Glittering through the air.
The roar,
The constant roar,
Monotonous and melodious
Fills the air.
Mist wells up from far below,
Leaping from the rocks as the water
Returns to the earth once more.
For a moment the water waits,
Suspended,
Sparkling beads in the air,
For a moment and forever.
Yet each drop must fall.
Though it be replaced by another,
Each drop must reach the bottom
And return to the calm river.
As each drop drifts away,
The waterfall thunders on

The highwayman

In Literacy we have been studying the poem "The highwayman."

On Monday we were learning how to think from other characters point of view.
It was really difficult as some of the characters we thought were horrible, like Tim the Ostler, who in the poem betrayed Bess and she and the highwayman both end up dead!

Although we had to think from his point of view which was VERY hard. During the lessons we got to freeze frame and hot seat some the main characters - which meant we found out about how they saw the story.

We started writing the story from another character's point of view and will finish this next week.

Welcome Back

Welcome Back

I hope that you all had a fantastic summer, the children are back looking clean and shiny, and are working hard - it already feels like we have been back weeks!
We are now settling into the new school year and that the children are looking forward to having the additional responsibilities that Year 6 brings, such as being school monitors and house captains. Alongside this, there will be exciting new challenges and plenty of hard work. To help the children with their maths, it is important that they know their tables up to x12 and that they are practised regularly. For literacy, the children should read for at least 20 minutes every night and learn spellings thoroughly; children will have receive a list of their spellings each week and these should be kept safe for easy reference. Don’t forget: these will be tested each week!
Homework will be set for both maths and literacy each week and children are expected to spend thirty minutes on it.
We have lots of exciting events happening throughout the term, and we are all looking forward to learning all the interesting topics that are planned this term.
